John 5:17, 19 Jesus said to them, “My Father is doing things until this very moment, and so I am doing things.” Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself, but he can do what he sees the Father doing, and he will do the same things the Father does.”
I often thought that service was about accomplishing certain goals for God, but the Lord reminded me that true service is entering into His already begun plan. When I was eager to draw up my own blueprint, I often overlooked that God was already at work. The core of the calling is not the quantity of action, but the depth of obedience. Learn to let go of your own designs and quietly see, listen, and follow God's footsteps.
Lord, grant me a humble and obedient heart, so that I may no longer be preoccupied with planning my own dreams, but instead be keenly aware of the work You are doing. Let me learn to wait in Your calling, not acting according to my own fleshly desires, but responding in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. May my life's path not be my own plan, but rather a path leading into Your eternal purpose. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
