Psalm 127:3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
The Psalms remind me that my children are not my achievements, extensions, or investments, but an inheritance from the Lord. Inheritance means sovereignty resides in God, entrusted to me. I often unconsciously mold them with my own expectations, anxieties, and plans, as if the outcome depends entirely on my efforts. But God reminds me: I am merely a steward, not the master. The direction, rhythm, and future of my children's lives are in God's hands. What I need to do is not control, but companionship; not anxious comparison, but faithful care, revering God and loving them in every moment.
Lord, thank you for giving us children as a blessing, not a burden. Forgive me for often placing my own expectations on them, substituting human standards for your will. Teach me to let go, to relinquish control to you, to guide them in love, and to entrust them in prayer. Guard your children's hearts, and shape mine as well, so that I may be more humble and trusting in you in raising them. May I be a faithful steward, not usurping your authority. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
