"Marriage and family are not sustained by love; on the contrary, it is this calling from God that sustains, shapes, and continuously refines human love. When feelings fade and weariness arises, it is commitment that allows love to continue to stand."
— Dietrich Bonhoeffer

📖 Scripture Reference

Ephesians 5:31–32 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I am speaking of Christ and the church.

💭 Reflection

Marriage is not merely the union of two people, but a mystery imbued with meaning by God. The world often understands marriage as the fulfillment of emotions, but Paul elevates the perspective—marriage points to the relationship between Christ and the Church. When feeling weak and weary, what truly sustains a family is not emotion, but covenant; not taking from one another, but learning to sacrifice oneself like Christ. Family happiness often comes not from less pressure, but from choosing faithfulness and companionship even under pressure.

🙏 Prayer

Lord, thank You for ordaining marriage as a vessel to manifest Your grace. When I am weary with responsibility and weak with reality, please remind me that my commitment is not just for my family, but also a response to Your calling. Grant me the heart of Christ, to learn self-sacrifice in love, and to learn trust in perseverance, so that my family may not only pursue happiness but also live out Your glorious example. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
