Ephesians 5:31-32 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I am speaking about Christ and the church."
The strength of marriage lies not in the passion of love but in the covenant established by God. Bonhoeffer reminded me that marriage sustains love, not love sustains marriage; its foundation is in Christ, in God's order and calling. Paul said that marriage is the mystery of Christ and the church, which made me understand that the union of husband and wife is a testimony pointing to the inseparable relationship between Christ and the church.
Lord, thank you for establishing marriage as a symbol of your love and faithfulness. May my spouse and I rely not on emotions alone but on your calling and truth, so that our marriages may be a testimony to your glory. May we support and complete each other in Christ until the day we meet you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.
