2 Peter 1:19 We also have more certain prophetic pronouncements, like a lamp shining in darkness. Pay attention to these prophecies until the day breaks and the morning star rises in your hearts.
The hustle and bustle of life, like daylight, often obscures the glimmer of truth; only when the night deepens and physical weakness forces us to pause do God's promises, like stars in the cold night, clearly emerge from the depths of our souls. The old man's bright eyes may be fixed on a "more certain prophecy" unseen by most. It is not an illusion, but a harbinger of the morning star rising in his heart. Listening at this moment is not a waste of time, but a vigil for dawn in the darkness. As the senses of the flesh gradually fade, the words of the Bible become the sole compass, guiding this "stranger" through the mist towards that unshakable peace and glory.
Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for preparing a bright lamp at the end of darkness. Lord, may Your Spirit move by the old man's bedside, and as he listens to Your words in his weakness, may every promise become a shining star, illuminating his way home. May he hear Your loving call in these words, and may his bright eyes see beyond the pain of flesh to the eternity that is about to dawn. Lord, remove the fear from his heart, grant him a peace beyond reason, and may he find complete release and comfort at the moment the morning star appears. May Your strength be his shield, and Your love his rest. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
