We tend to divide life into "sacred" and "secular," believing that prayer should be reserved for serious illness or hardship, while the success of repairing an appliance depends on luck. But the Gospel of Matthew reminds us that God's grace is extremely "refined." The constant malfunctioning and restarting of the blender, seemingly a mechanical accident, is actually God's way of accompanying us in subtle ways. He doesn't care about the value of the items, but rather our peace in the mundane. This unexpected turnaround after seemingly desperate measures is God dismantling our self-righteousness, allowing us to rediscover His invisible yet ever-present hand when we are at our wits' end.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you not only for being the Lord of the universe, but also for caring for my daily needs. When the blender kept restarting, you saw our needs; when I tried to take it apart and fix it, and it worked perfectly, I knew it was your protection. Thank you for reminding me through this small incident that even the smallest parts won't break needlessly if you don't allow it. Forgive me for often forgetting you in good times and neglecting you in trivial matters. May my faith be built not only on the joy of "it's fixed," but also on the deep love of "you numbering the hairs of my head." May I look to you in all things and give thanks in all things.
