Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
When things don't go as I expect, I easily become anxious and even doubt whether I'm on the right track. But God's ways are higher than mine; He sees the bigger picture that I cannot. Perhaps I feel it's harder because He is expanding my capacity; perhaps I feel limited because He is rebuilding my foundation. True faith is not about favorable circumstances, but about remaining obedient in the face of the unknown. Today, I am willing to relinquish my desire for control and acknowledge that God's plan is far more profound than my judgment.
Lord, your thoughts are higher than my thoughts, your ways higher than my ways. When I am uneasy because of changing circumstances, I ask that you strengthen my heart, so that I do not act on what I see. If you allow a delay, it is to prepare for something better; if you close a door, it is to protect your direction. Remove from me the heart of impatience and control, so that I may remain faithful in waiting, and trust in uncertainty. May your will be done, not my plans. Amen.
