John 8:34, 36 Jesus answered, “Very truly I say to you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin… So if the Son sets you free, you will be free.”
The Lord Jesus reminded me that a sinner is a slave to sin, a statement that pierces the heart. I often thought freedom meant living according to my own desires and pursuing the results I wanted, but in reality, emotions, desires, pride, and laziness often pulled me away, making me think I was "free" when I was actually bound. True freedom is being released from sin, having my heart renewed by God's word, and being willing to obey Him, love Him, and live in the truth. May I return daily to the grace of Christ, allowing Him to guide me, rather than letting my selfish desires dictate my direction.
Lord Jesus, I confess that I often misunderstand freedom, being self-centered and unaware that this is being controlled by sin. Thank You for illuminating my path with truth, showing me that true freedom only exists in You. Cleanse my heart, break the power of sin, and help me not to live according to my own will, but to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, delighting in Your will and doing what pleases You. Guide me daily in the truth, glorifying You in my circumstances, words, work, and relationships. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
