Hebrews 10:35-36 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, for it will be greatly rewarded. Be patient, so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what has been promised.
Even if obedience to the calling is arduous, it is better than experiencing spiritual desolation in comfort. The real crisis is not a lack of resources, but losing the glory of the Lord out of fear of the consequences. Hebrews reminds us to have a “courageous heart,” a courage not based on self-confidence, but on unwavering faith in God’s promises. We must patiently fulfill God’s will. Do not focus on the “heavy” tasks at hand, but on the “great reward.” In obedience, we preserve the spirituality of our group from thirst; in perseverance, we receive the eternal promises.
Lord, thank you for giving us courage and sending fellow workers to walk alongside us on this path. Facing the unknown ahead, we ask that you help us not to look at the cost of obedience, but only at the glory of your presence; not to avoid the trials and tribulations, but only to avoid the desolation of our hearts. Lord, grant our team double the patience, so that we may fulfill your will even in the face of mundane tasks and challenges. May we not abandon our first faith until we receive the reward you have promised. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
