"The Lord doesn't look at your ability, He looks at your availability. Serving is not about completing tasks, but about building people up."
— Dr. Robert Samman

📖 Scripture Reference

1 Corinthians 1:26-27 Brothers and sisters, do you see what you were called to be? Not many of you were wise by the standards of the flesh, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

💭 Reflection

Attending the memorial service for the veteran missionary, the most profound impact came from Dr. Samantha's words, "The Lord values your availability." We often hesitate because we pursue "ability," forgetting that God often chooses those who know their weaknesses but willingly surrender. The veteran missionary's twenty years in the Philippines were not based on extraordinary talent, but on a sincere heart that said, "Here I am, send me." True discipleship is not about completing an iTIM course, but like him, igniting lives with life. Reflecting on myself: Have I always been waiting to become stronger, missing the opportunity to respond to the calling right now?

🙏 Prayer

Our loving Heavenly Father, thank You for rekindling the missionary fire within us through this memorial service for this faithful servant. Lord, forgive us for often valuing our own intelligence and abilities while neglecting our initial obedience. Just as You chose the weak to shame the strong, You also possess our lives, making us "usable" vessels. May the spirit that inspired the old missionary to dedicate twenty years to his mission in a foreign land move us even more, enabling us not only to follow his example but also to carry on his unfinished mission. Lord, protect the seeds sown in the Philippines and elsewhere; glory to You forever. Amen.
